"Warde and Ludlowe combining into one team, coached by Jerelle Roman and Rich Carter, was loaded with young talent."

The following recap of the Fairfield Co-Op Swim and Dive Team's season was written by Ben Selter and Aidan Roche:

FAIRFIELD, CT — Tis the season as they say when the month of December rolls around, but for high school, it was swim season. Warde and Ludlowe combining into one team, coached by Jerelle Roman and Rich Carter, was loaded with young talent. They started off the season against the toughest opponent in the state: Greenwich. While Fairfield was handed their first loss of the season, they only got more competitive following it. The season continued for the boys through the months of December, January and into February as they battled out all their dual meets coming down to the wire for most.

February and March were the peak months of the season for Fairfield as they had many swimmers going to FCIAC Finals, Class LL State Trials as well as finals, and they had two swimmers, Aidan Roche and Michael Ivanov, and their diver Finn Moynahan making their way to State Opens. Across those 2 months of big meets Fairfield placed 6th at FCIAC’s, 6th at Class LL State’s, and even with only 3 competitors, placed 21st out of 48 teams at State Opens. There were several broken Fairfield records along this journey, Nathaniel Taft being a part of all of them. Nathaniel broke the 100 Freestyle record, 100 Backstroke record and led off in the 200 Freestyle Relay with Raunak Subedi, Aidan Roche, and Michael Ivanov that was also broken this year. Nathaniel also won Class LL States for the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle to add on. While the swimmers had big success, their one and only diver capped off the season taking home first place at State Opens with an unbelievable score of 546.60 points. Fairfield Swim and Dive had a historic run and saw incredible improvements and success by the end of the season and the returning swimmers are eager for the next season.
