Fairfield Conservation Commission To Review Sasco Hill Easement Work, Open Space Plans
Fairfield Conservation Commission meets next week to discuss easement work, open space acquisitions and enforcement updates.
FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Conservation Commission is scheduled to review proposed improvements within a conservation and public access easement at a property on Sasco Hill Road when it meets June 17, along with discussions on open space acquisitions and ongoing enforcement matters involving wetlands and conservation easements.
The commission will hold the public meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Room 102 of the Fairfield Regional Fire Training Center, 205 Richard White Way, and via Zoom (Passcode: 123), making the meeting a hybrid format.
Among the new business items, commissioners are scheduled to consider proposed improvements within the Conservation/Public Access Easement at 10 Sasco Hill Road.

The commission is also expected to continue discussions about conservation easement procedures and several pending conservation easements involving properties at 980 High St., 987 Banks Road North and 845 Mill Hill Terrace.

Under open space matters, commissioners are slated to discuss how to move forward with a potential acquisition involving 80 Congress St. The agenda also notes the town's current open-space acquisition frequency rate at 2.64 months per parcel.
Several enforcement-related matters are scheduled for updates and discussion.
At 42 Anvil Road, commissioners are expected to review a previously submitted survey related to a conservation easement and unauthorized regulated activities within an inland wetlands area. The agenda notes that a permit application has been submitted to the Conservation and Watercourses Commission.
At 30 Laurelbrook Lane, the commission may review a site restoration plan tied to unauthorized regulated activities within regulated wetlands and watercourses areas and a conservation easement. The agenda states that a second citation was issued May 7 for additional unauthorized work at the site. Receipt of an inland wetlands permit application is expected in July ahead of an Aug. 5 Inland Wetlands Agency meeting.
The staff report includes several updates on conservation and open-space initiatives. Staff are expected to report that a National Fish and Wildlife Foundation National Coastal Resilience Fund grant pre-proposal was denied. Other updates include restoration work at Mill Hollow open space, a requisition for a boat purchase, ongoing trail and open-space maintenance projects, and an update on FEEFS.
Staff are also expected to discuss plans for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Rooster River litter boom project, scheduled for 10 a.m. June 23.
