FAIRFIELD, CT — A recent arrest led police to uncover a narcotics distribution site at a local motel room, according to law enforcement.

The discovery occurred after police arrested Tajh Wiley on a warrant Feb. 12 in the parking lot of Stop & Shop on Kings Highway Cutoff, Fairfield police said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

Wiley, 24, of Fairfield, was identified late last year as part of a criminal organization involved in identity theft, credit card fraud and drug dealing, police said. Detectives had reason to believe he was dealing marijuana and other narcotics, and had people dealing for him, according to police.

He was charged Feb. 12 with second-degree forgery, illegal use of a payment card, two counts of third-degree identity theft and fifth-degree larceny, police said.

Evidence gathered during the arrest indicated to law enforcement that a narcotics distribution site might be located at a nearby motel, according to police. Detectives obtained a warrant for the motel room, which revealed 16 pounds of marijuana, packaging material and cash, police said.

Wiley received an additional charge of selling 1 kilogram or more of marijuana, according to police. He was released on bonds, but after threatening witnesses involved in the investigation, he was arrested again Wednesday during a court appearance, charged with second-degree threatening and intimidating a witness, and held on $100,000 bond, police said.

Wiley was previously arrested in November at his Edward Street residence and charged with several offenses related to identity theft, larceny, forgery and impersonation after an extensive investigation that began in October, Patch has reported.
