Fairfield Cops Issue Warning After Strangers Approach Boys

Police reported that the strangers were asking the boys questions, such as, 'Do you want to go into the woods?'

Via the Fairfield Police Department: FAIRFIELD, CT — On Aug. 10 at approximately 6:15 p.m., police received a report of three people in a vehicle asking two juvenile males “strange questions,” such as, “Do you want to go into the woods?” The incident was reported to have occurred in the area of Greenfield Street.

The people were described only as two males and one female, all appearing to be in their 40s. The vehicle was described only as a black SUV.

Take note of the description and remain vigilant in observing and reporting any suspicious people, vehicles or behaviors to the police at 203-254-4800.

In the neighborhood setting, parents should:

  • Remain vigilant in observing and reporting any suspicious vehicles, people, activities or anything that is otherwise not normal for their area;
  • Regularly reinforce with their children that they should avoid suspicious people and vehicles;
  • Encourage their children to talk about anything suspicious they observe throughout their day, and encourage them to immediately tell an adult they trust if they have had an encounter that they feel was not normal.

  • Walk home in a group or with a buddy;
  • Use routes that are more populated, unobstructed and well lit;
  • Always avoid any strangers attempting to engage them in a conversation;
  • Never approach a strange vehicle;
  • Immediately tell an adult they trust if they think they have been followed.
