FAIRFIELD, CT — Thousands of coronavirus test kits will not be distributed Thursday in Fairfield as previously planned, according to town officials.

“Test kit distribution is delayed by the Governor’s Office,” the town of Fairfield website said Thursday morning. “No test kit distribution will happen in Fairfield on 12/30. We will post when we have more information.”

Roughly 7,700 kits with two tests each were set to be given out Thursday afternoon at Roger Ludlowe Middle School to residents with virus exposure or symptoms as part of a state plan to distribute 3 million kits after testing demand outpaced availability in Connecticut. Both Fairfield and Connecticut have reported high case numbers in recent days.
