Fairfield Coronavirus Update: 12 Dead, 200 Confirmed Cases

There were four additional reported virus-associated deaths in Fairfield as of Tuesday compared to as of Monday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Twelve Fairfield residents had died after contracting the new coronavirus as of Tuesday, according to the first selectwoman — an increase of four deaths compared to her report Monday.

“These losses weigh heavy on us all,” First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said Tuesday in an email to residents. “I hope everyone in our community will keep these Fairfield families in your thoughts and prayers.”

There were 200 confirmed cases of the virus in Fairfield as of Tuesday and 13,989 confirmed cases across Connecticut, 671 of which were associated with a patient death, according to state data.

Kupchick in Tuesday’s email said virus hospitalizations in Connecticut are projected to peak by April 25 and deaths are estimated to peak by April 26. She also reminded residents of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation that shoppers wear cloth coverings over their mouths when visiting grocery stores, pharmacies and other public places.
