Fairfield Coronavirus Update: 132 Deaths, More Than 600 Cases

More than 600 Fairfield residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to officials.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The rate of new positive cases of the new coronavirus in Fairfield continues to trend downward, First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in an update Thursday. Fairfield has 614 residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 and 132 residents have died, according to town data.

More than 90 percent of Fairfield’s COVID-related deaths are from residents in one of the town’s seven assisted-living facilities or nursing homes, according to Kupchick.

“My prayers continue to be with those families who have lost a loved one during this very difficult time,” Kupchick said Thursday in an email to residents.

Of the 614 residents who have tested positive in Fairfield, 264 reported that they have fully recovered.

Nearly 100 of the residents who have died, as of Thursday, were over the age of 80 and 20 were in their 70s, according to the town. One of the residents who died was in their 40s, while two were in their 50s and 10 were over the age of 60.
