Fairfield Coronavirus Update: 3rd Resident Dies, 50 Cases In Town

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield has seen its third death in connection with the new coronavirus and reached a total of 50 confirmed cases, the first selectwoman said Thursday.

The most recently deceased person was identified as an 84-year-old man, according to a Facebook post from First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick. The town's previous coronavirus-associated deaths were those of an 87-year-old woman, reported Wednesday, and an 85-year-old man, reported Saturday.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases reached 3,824 on Thursday, 112 of which were fatal, according to Kupchick. More than half of the confirmed cases — 2,132 — were in Fairfield County.
