Fairfield Coronavirus Update: 8 Dead, 173 Confirmed Cases

FAIRFIELD, CT — Eight Fairfield residents have died after contracting the new coronavirus, the first selectwoman said Saturday in a Facebook post, up from seven deaths Friday.

There are 173 confirmed cases of the virus in town, according to Kupchick, who reported 54 patients have fully recovered. A Fairfield police officer tested positive Friday for the virus.

Across Connecticut as of Saturday, there were 11,510 confirmed cases, 494 of which resulted in the death of a patient and 5,407 of which were in Fairfield County, Kupchick said.
