Fairfield Finance Board To Review School, Town FY26 Year-End Finances

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Board of Finance is scheduled to review the town and school district’s fiscal year 2026 year-end financial positions during its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The reviews will give board members an opportunity to examine the year-end finances of two major portions of Fairfield’s municipal budget.

The board is scheduled first to review the Board of Education’s FY26 year-end financial position, followed by a review of the town’s FY26 year-end financial position.

According to education officials, the school system's unaudited surplus for FY25-26 is $2,257,563.42, while town officials are reporting a preliminary surplus of $1.2 million.

Finance board members also are expected to hear updates from three nonprofit organizations: the Discovery Museum, Greater Bridgeport Transit District and Mozaic Adult Day Care.

Additionally, the board may hear, consider and act upon communications.

The quarterly review meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, and will be held in a hybrid format. In-person will be in Room 295 A/B of the Board of Education Conference Room, 501 Kings Highway East, and remote participation available through Zoom.

Residents are encouraged to submit comments to the Board of Finance before the meeting through the town's online contact form.

According to the agenda, people who join through Zoom or by telephone will not automatically be heard by board members. Live public comment will be available only if and when the chair calls for it during the meeting.
