Fairfield Fire Department Mourns Loss Of Assistant Chief Chris Tracy
Tracy was instrumental in the building of The Fairfield Regional Fire School.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Retired Fairfield Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tracy, who had served as one of the directors of The Fairfield Regional Fire School, died Sunday, the department announced.
"Chris was an amazingly talented person who used his political prowess to ensure that the funding of our school came to fruition," fire officials wrote on Facebook. "He worked tirelessly with anyone who he thought could help him to achieve the goal of rebuilding the school so that the many firefighters in our region could learn and hone their firefighting skills."
First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick led a moment of silence Monday before the Board of Selectpersons meeting in Tracy's honor.

She told Patch that Tracy was a dedicated public servant.
"Chris served the Fairfield Fire Department with dedication and commitment to the community," Kupchick said. "I had the pleasure of working with Chris during my tenure in the state legislature and where he was the driving force behind the Fairfield Regional Fire School. Chris will always be remembered as a consummate gentleman and was passionate about proper training for the fire department."

Bridgeport fire officials also sent well-wishes via Facebook to Fairfield's Bravest on the loss.
"The Bridgeport Fire Department sends our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters of the Fairfield Fire Department in the unexpected loss of Assistant Chief Chris Tracey."
Added Fairfield fire officials, "His smile will truly be missed by the many people whose lives he touched, and he will always be remembered for his kindness, love of music, as well as the many other wonderful talents he had. Rest in peace our friend."
