Fairfield Firefighters Put Out Backyard Blaze

The homeowner told first responders his son and friends had tried to start a fire using a gas can, when it caught ablaze.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Firefighters responded Sunday to a blaze in a Fairfield yard, according to officials. Emergency personnel found a 2.5-gallon gas can on fire in a backyard in the 500 block of Old Post Road, according to the Fairfield Fire Department. The homeowner told first responders his son and friends had tried to start a fire using the can, when it caught ablaze. Firefighters extinguished the flames and told the homeowner to properly dispose of the remaining gas.
