Fairfield Firefighters Rescue College Students from Rough Waters

Three female college students called 9-1-1 after losing control of their rowboat.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Three female college students were rescued from rough waters by firefighters after losing control of their rowboat Monday afternoon in Fairfield, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports the students, who weren’t wearing life jackets, called 9-1-1 by cellphone to report they were unable to paddle their rowboat back to shore in rough seas caused by wind and tidal currents.

Emergency crews responded to the South Benson Marina and the students’ boat couldn’t immediately be located but they kept in contact and identified landmarks to pinpoint their location, according to the Post.
