Fairfield Firefighters Rescue Dog Trapped Underneath Concrete Slabs

Responding to a request for assistance from the Fairfield Animal Control Officer, Fairfield firefighters rescued a dog trapped beneath concrete slabs on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, firefighters responded to a jackknifed tractor trailer that went down the embankment off I-95 at about 6:30 a.m. and extricated the driver from the 18-wheeler.

Firefighters used a Stokes basket to transfer the driver to the ambulance and he was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
