Fairfield Firefighters Respond To Gas Leak Near Whole Foods

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield firefighters responded Wednesday morning to a natural gas leak near Whole Foods, according to the fire department.

The leak occurred on Kings Highway East in the area of Vermont Avenue, according to a Facebook post from the department timestamped just before 9:15 a.m. Southern Connecticut Gas Co. was also on the scene.

"There is currently no hazard to residents or businesses in the area," the Facebook post said.

The leak was capped by about 9:30 a.m., according to a Facebook comment from Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir.
