Fairfield FURY Wins League Championship

Team tops Norwalk in Fairfield County Fastpitch Softball League title game.

The Fairfield Fury ‘02 girls’ softball team beat the Norwalk Riptide 6-2 on Sunday to clinch the 12U B championship of the Fairfield County Fastpitch Softball League (FCFSL).

Prior to Sunday, the Fury girls had three wins in pool play and were seeded second behind Norwalk going into the championship series.

On Sunday, the Fury girls started the day beating New Fairfield and Brookfield to advance to the title game against Norwalk. Fairfield fell behind early but came storming back to take control of the game and close out the victory.

With Sunday’s win, the FCFSL season is over for the Fairfield Fury. Tryouts for next year’s team will be held at Dougiello Field in Fairfield on Aug. 5 (for 9/10U), Aug. 6 (for 11/12u) and Aug. 7 (for 13u/14u/16u) teams. All tryouts will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
