The tournament victory pivoted around the semifinal game vs. the Hudson Valley Hurricanes.

Down 2-1 in their last at bat, the Fury battled back against the Hurricanes ace that had pitched masterfully striking out 10 and only given up two hits until that point.

Taylor Treonze led off the bottom of the sixth and started an improbable rally with a bunt that was misplayed, advancing all the way to third base on the overthrow. Erica Biegel then came to the plate and was struck on the hand by an inside pitch, called a foul ball. Battling through the pain, she eventually struck out but reached second base when the catcher dropped the third strike.

Justina Holland came to bat next and continued her hot hitting by stroking the game-winning hit to left field, scoring Treonze and then Biegel for the victory.

Anna Dewitt contributed a game saving catch in deep center field earlier in the game.

Meredith Stewart and Maddie David were masterful on the mound throughout the tournament giving the Fury a chance to win every game. Catcher Julia Minichini was fantastic behind the plate and also hit a home run in the third game on Saturday. Allie Clark (SS), Clare Edminster (3B) and Madeline Reyes (1B) were superb defensively and also each provided several clutch hits. Mia Hanrahan and Margaux Forget provided offensive and defensive support throughout the tournament.

The Fairfield FURY is a travel softball organization dedicated toward helping young ladies achieve success both on the field of play and in life. All of the girls on this particular team are currently sixth graders attending the three Fairfield based Middle Schools.
