The Junior Midget Giants rolled to their fifth consecutive victory defeating the Waterbury Patriots29-0 at Sullivan Field.Fairfield controlled the game from the beginning, scoring 16 points in the first quarter.
Finn Duran put the Giants on the board early, scampering 20 yards into the endzone. Gage Dias moved to the offensive side of the ball and scored with a blast up the middle. Brian Kiremidjian put both PAT’s through the uprights, putting the Giants up 16-0. Throughout the contest, Fairfield’s defense manhandled Waterbury. They smothered the run, blanketed their receivers and held them to just 3 first downs on the afternoon. With the offense back on the field, Fairfield increased their lead when Duran connected with Kiremidjian on a 40-yard strike. Jackson Gilmore, who also delivered several key blocks, ran in the extra point upping the score to 23-0 going into the break.
The second half proved to be more of the same with Fairfield continuing to dominate on both sides of the ball. Big stops from Henry Houghton, Jeff Meyers, Sam Roberto, Brandon Moutinho, Nick Rothe and Ryan McManus set the tone, forcing many three and out sequences for Waterbury. Each week, new players step up and deliver big plays for the Giants. Peter Schwartz and Owen Sherman both contributed significant yardage, resulting in the final score of the game. The Giants put their unbeaten streak on the line when they host Amity on Sunday.

FAIRFIELD 6 NEW HAVEN 20
The Giants Pee Wee team laid it all out on the field Sunday afternoon vs the Goliath New Haven Steelers. It was a battle of the unbeaten! Both teams were 4-0 coming into the D1 vs D2 match-up. Fairfield was prepared for a battle, and that’s exactly what they received!
New Haven scored early and often, putting up two quick scores in Q1 on the infamous New Haven Power Sweep play ending the quarter with a 14-0 lead. This is where is gets interesting! Making adjustments, the Giants defense settled in and help NH scoreless, forcing 3 punts in Q2, with the score remaining 14-0 at the half.
Fairfield battled through another scorless Q3, before their pounding running game began to ware down the NH defense. The Giants began Q4 on their own 40 yard line, driving 60 yards with shorts passes by QB Nick Morris, and twisting runs by RB’s Mike Innaimo, Tommy O’Connell, and Kyle Stevenson. Morris would find Stevenson in the back of the end zone for a 10 yd TD strike, making the score 14-6 with 7 mins remaining.
The 2 teams would exchange blows for the next 6:40 secs. With 20 secs reaming in the game, Fairfield took over on downs after stopping NH on a 1st goal from the 5 yard line. On a last ditch Hail Mary pass by the Giants...NH safety ran back a pick 6 as time ran out, making the final score 20-6.
Game standouts were, Declan O’Hara, Grady Bartlet, Charlie Wilcox, Trevor Knisley, John Reynolds, Freddy Cappossella, Max Spies, Gavin Toth, and Peter Strang.

MITEY MITE SR 2-3
FAIRFIELD 20 DANBURY 0
MITEY MITE Jr 1-3
FAIRFIELD 0 DERBY 7
The Mitey Mite Jr team lost 7 to 0 to the very tough Derby Red Raiders. With the game ties 0-0 in mid Q3, both defensive squads would not give an inch. Facing a 3rd long, Giants QB Jon Morris took a bootleg 70 yards down the sidelines and in for the score, only to have the TD play called back on a very untimely penalty. With 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Derby drove to the Giants 1 yard line. After a great goal line stance, the Red Raiders punched the ball into the end zone for the only score of the game. It was a hard fought defensive game that came right down to the end.
