Fairfield Giants Week 3 Game Recaps
JR MIDGETS (1-2) FAIRFIELD 22 DANBURY 25
The Fairfield Giants Junior Midget team lost a tough one Sunday to Danbury by the score of 25-22. The Giants went up 8-0 on a dive from the 2 yd line from Anthony Espinoza. The Giants scored again with 2 minutes to go before the half on a 15 yard strike from Andrew Loya to Charlie Wilcox.
On the ensuing kickoff the Danbury squad capitalized on a Giant miscue and returned the kickoff 80 yards for a quick score. At the half the Giants were up 14-7. Coming out throwing in the third quarter, Loya hit Tyler Ciccia on a 40 yard catch & run and Trevor Knisely kicked the PAT to make the score 22-7.
Danbury wouldn’t go away and scored three times in the second half. The Giants Defense played hard but Danbury passed effectively in the second half and scored on a 60 yard pass in the 3rd quarter and a 45 yard catch & run in the 4th quarter. Down 22-19 Danbury drove 40 yards, capped off by a terrific 20 yard TD run by the QB with under 2 minutes to play. The Giants managed to move the ball the to Danbury 40 yard line with under 1 minute to play but were unable to get the ball in the end zone as time expired.
PEE WEE (3-0) FAIRFIELD 34 DERBY 0
The defending State Champion Pee Team improves to 3-0 on the season with a 34-0 shutout victory over the Derby Red Raiders. The Giants defense posted their second straight shutout and have allowed just one TD in 3 games. The stonewall D was led by DE’s Griffin Harding and Jack Gremes, and LB Peter Strang.
Fairfield’s offense continues to roll putting up 34 points in the victory. RB Strang scored on a reverse from Tyler Hibberd. RB Mike Innaimo scored on a 55 yard sweep. Nick Morris returned a punt 60 yds for a TD, dashing and dancing through a sea of of Red raiders. RB Tyler Hibberd scored on a 40 yd run off tackle, and RB Ben Gaffney punched in the final score of the day with a 5 yard plunge up the gut. Hibberd, Innaimo, and Drew Buckley all hit PAT’s on the day. Additional game standouts were, Max Spies, Anthony Bambus, Gavin Toth, TIm Walton, and Roan Chiarilli.

JR PEE WEE 1 (2-1) FAIRFIELD 33 WATERBURY 13
The JPW1 team defeated the Waterbury Patriots 33-13. The Giants established dominance on their first drive with QB Tommy Kramer taking a sweep 30 yards to score. Waterbury had no answer for the strong running of Jack Melbourne and Joey D’Elia, both scoring 2 Touchdowns on the day. Coach Paul Atala was happy the offensive line led by Sean Donohue, Mac Gleason, Anwar Sakly, and Matthew Selca who controlled the line of scrimmage all day. Defensive standouts included Justyn Davis, Dustin Poole and Beau Dehler. Next week, Naugatuck.

JR PEE WEE 2 (3-0) FAIRFIELD 12 SEYMOUR 7
Fairfield, CT. – Fairfield Giants JrPW2 and the Seymour Tigers both went scoreless in the 1st quarter. Fairfield RB Sean O’Neill sprinted 36 yards for the game’s first score in the 2nd quarter. Harrison Spangler got the Giants going in the 3rd quarter with a 22 yard run. The offensive line led by Parker Pasmeg and Luca Caran allowed RB Patten Royal to cut back and run for 35 yards and a 12-0 lead. Seymour answered with a score and PAT conversion to cut Fairfield’s lead to 12-7. The Tigers got the ball for their final possession of the game at Giant’s 23 yard line. Fairfield’s defense led by Andrew Reynolds, Matthew Mitchell, Colin Frey and Timothy Bango-Jasko wouldn’t yield an inch. The Giant’s Joseph Macri closed the door by sacking Seymour QB Robert Rousseau.Fairfield travels to Newington Saturday September 19th.
MITEY MITE SR (1-2) FAIRFIELD 13 DANBURY 19
MMSR lose 19 to 13 to the Danbury Trojans. After being down 19 0 at half time the Giants rally back and put up 13 points on 2 touchdown passes by Tate Mahoney first connecting with John kleinbeck on a 15 yard pass making the score 6-19 and then later in the fourth quarter Tate Mahoney connects on a 20 yard touchdown pass to Aidan Crotty to put the Giants score to 13. The Giants fell short ending a close game 19 to 13. Great effort by the boys who never gave up and fought all the way to the end.
MITEY MITE JR (1-1-1) FAIRFIELD 18 WATERBURY 6
Fairfield, CT. – QB Jonathan Morris scrambled 64 and 42 yards for touchdowns on two of Fairfield’s first three possessions to give the MMJrs an early 12-0 lead over the Waterbury Patriots. The Giant’s offensive line led by William Dunn and Will Donahue opened up lanes for RBs Conrad Burki, Finbar Malloy and Angelo Boci in the 3rdQuarter. QB Tyler Cirilli capped off the Giant’s opening drive of the 3rd quarter dashing 28 yards for the touchdown to give Fairfield 18-0 advantage. Fairfield’s defense led by Ryan Menozzi, Charlie Mahoney, Rhett Davies and Ryan Thompkins kept the Patriots offense in neutral through three quarters. Waterbury scored in the 4th quarter, and on the Patriot’s next possession Charlie Mahoney intercepted the pass to end the game 18-6. The Giants travel to Naugatuck Sunday September 20th.
