Fairfield Giants State Champion Pee Wee’s Secure #1 Seed For SCPW Playoffs
JR MIDGETS (4-4) FAIRFIELD 29 SOUTH COUNTY MA 0
The Jr. Midget team hosted the Indians from South County Massachusetts for their Homecoming game this weekend. Cheerleaders, football players and fans were in great spirits starting with a parade of cars decorated with Fairfield Giants colors. The Giants didn’t disappoint, recording a shutout 29-0 win! Outstanding blocking all day long from the offensive line led by: Taco O’Connell, Luke Oligino, Freddy “Cappy” Capossela, Ryan Durrell, Dan Shannon, Tino Rugani and Dylan Fragomeni allowed runs by Trevor Knisely, Tyler Ciccia, Anthony Espinoza and a long run by Luke Martucci to set up a 6 yd TD scamper by Jed Keresey, capping off the Giants 1st offensive possession. Charlie Wilcox ran in the extra point. Giants scored again at end of their 2nd possession. The long drive orchestrated by Espinoza with a mix of runs and a long pass to Wilcox ended with Tyler Ciccia punching in the TD. The 2nd play from scrimmage of the 2nd half was the giants offensive highlight of the game. A QB keeper by Espinoza gaining 20 yds and a pitch as he was being tackled to Wilcox who raced up the sideline another 40 yds to score. An Espinoza PAT made it 21-0 early in the 3rd Quarter. Espinoza put up the final score, running a 45 yd sweep up the right sideline for the score, followed by an Espinoza PAT brought it to 29-0. Other offensive play makers: Grady Bartlett did a nice job as QB running the offensive in the 2nd half and Joe Sangiuolo enjoyed some great runs! The Giants D was stingy, allowing only 1 first down per half. Standout defensive play by: Freddy “Cappy” Capposella, Dan Shannon, Joe Sangiuolo, Jonah Brodtman - breaking up 2 passes, Luke Martucci - blocked punt, Anthony Espinoza & Charlie Wilcox. Jr. Midget record improves to 4-4 and they’re headed to the playoffs!

PEE WEE (7-1) FAIRFIELD 36 HAMDEN 0
The Fairfield Pee Wee team posted their 6th shutout of the season, blanking the Hamden Hurricanes 36-0 on a chilly Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Field. The Giants defense continued to stifle all opposing offensives with lighting speed and tight containment. MLB’s Peter Strang and Grady Golier led the Defense, limiting the Hamden offense to just one first down all all day. The offensive barrage was a medley of great scoring runs by Nick Morris (1), Peter Strang (2), Ben Gaffney (1), Grant Pannarese (1), and Tyler Hibberd was 2 for 3 with PAT attempts. The 2014 State Champion Pee Wee’s finished the season 7-1 and secured the #1 seed and a 1st round bye in the SCPW DII playoffs in their quest to repeat as Ct state champions.

JR PEE WEE 1 (6-2) FAIRFIELD 29 MILFORD (8) 12
The 6-2 JPW1 team rides a 5 game winning streak into the playoffs with a convincing win 29-12 over the Trumbull1 Rangers. The Rangers had no answer in slowing the Giants high powered offense that averaged 4 touchdowns a game this season. Giants RB Joey D’Elia scored on their first possession and the Giants defense followed it up with a Safety by Jordan Davis. Trumbull responded but Joey scored his 2nd of 4 TD’s to end the half 16-12. The second half the Giants completely shut down Trumbull’s offense with strong play by Jack Melbourne, Sean Donohue, Dustyn Pool, Michael and Matthew Selca. Next up-Playoffs!
JR PEE WEE 2 (5-3) FAIRFIELD 0 TRUMBULL (1) 13
Fairfield, CT. – The Giant’s JPW2 and Ranger’s JPW1 defense weren’t charitable on a day that both teams collected donations for Operation Hope.Trumbull recovered a Giant’s fumble on Fairfield’s 2nd possession only to give the ball right back.The Ranger’s QB went to the air only to have Fairfield’s Patten Royal come down with the ball.The Rangers put the ball on the ground on their next possession and Giant’s OLB Andrew Reynolds recovered it.Fairfield FB Cooper Anderson broke a 46 yard run with time running out in the first half, but was stopped inside the 5 yard line.Giant QB Rogan Kane rolled out of the pocket but the pass was broken up.Fairfield was led on defense by Matthew Mitchell, Sean O’Neill, Mark Wrobel, Anthony Falleta and Joe Macri.Giant’s RB Deuce Barnaby, Sean O’Neill, Harrison Spangler and Ryan Faris grinded out yards but Trumbull’s defense didn’t break.Trumbull scored twice late in the 4th quarter to take the win 13-0.
MITEY MITE JR (5-2-1) FAIRFIELD 30 HAMDEN 0
Fairfield, CT – Fairfield’s MMJr defense calmed the Hurricane’s offense. The Giants were led on defense by Angelo Boci, Gage Tyler, William Bond, Andrew Sakey and Andrew Barnaby who forced Hamden to punt on their first three possessions. Fairfield QB Jonathan Morris took the Giant’s first possession 43 yards for the first score of the game. Giant RB Ryan Menozzi raced 54 yards for the first of three TDs in the 2nd quarter for Fairfield. Fairfield’s Finbar Maloy grabbed a Hamden fumble that allowed the Giants to drive to the one yard line where Maloy found the end zone making it 18-0. The Hurricanes went to the air only to have Fairfield’s Tyler Cirilli pick them off. Morris scooped a bobbled snap off the ground and dashed 51 yards for Fairfield’s third TD of the 2nd quarter and a 24-0 lead at the half. The Giants started the 3rd quarter at their 30 yard line when Fairfield RB Nolan Childers took it to the house running 70 yards for the score and lifting the Giants to 30-0. The Giants finish the regular season 5-2-1 and want to thank coaches Mark Cirilli, Dave Houghton, Chris Palmer, Jeff Roberto, Mitch McManus, Ed Leibrock, Peter Bond and Eli Reynolds for giving up so much time to teach them football.
