FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce's annual fall Fairfield Harvest Market & Halloween Costume Dog Parade will return this weekend, after the event was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The festivities will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Old Town Hall Green, according to a chamber news release.

More than 70 retail vendors will display their products, which will range from food items like local honey and barbecue sauce to rustic furniture and Adirondack chairs, plus jewelry, beauty products, clothing, household items and pet supplies. The Fairfield Farmers Market vendors will also be in attendance for their last weekend of the season.

In addition, there will be a Dog Halloween Costume Parade at noon. Lineup will begin 11:45 a.m. along the side of Old Town Hall, facing Beach Road. The first 25 dogs to check in and line up will receive a free chamber dog bandana and chamber doggie treats. Free pet food samples and treats will be supplied by other vendors. The parade sponsor, the Pet Pantry Warehouse, will supply seven prizes: Best Family Costume, Owner-Pet Lookalike, Spookiest, Diva Dog, Most Creative, Fairfield Town Pride and Cutest. Prizes will be announced around 12:45 p.m. in front of Old Town Hall.

Pets must be current on vaccinations and flea-and-tick prevention. Aggressive animals or females in season are not allowed. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Owners must poop scoop after their animals.

The event will also feature a giant pumpkin, the weight of which attendees are invited to guess. A prize will be awarded to the person whose guess is closest.

The Fairfield Rotary Club will host a Beer Garden from noon to 4 p.m. outside the Old Sun Tavern, behind the Fairfield Museum. The Sabbs Brothers will provide live music. Tickets are $5 for those 21 and over.

Food trucks will offer a variety of options, including: Bella Sera Ristorante, Bodega Taco Bar, Dude’s Donuts, Little Kernel's Kettle Corn and Lobster Craft.
