The Health Department recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone 6 months and older. Officials said residents are encouraged to get vaccinated early in the fall because it takes about two weeks after vaccination for the body to develop protection against the flu.
Flu vaccines will be available while supplies last. Injectable vaccines will be offered to people ages 3 and older, and high-dose vaccines will be available for people over age 65. Limited quantities of FluMist will be available for people ages 3 to 18.
