Officials are also encouraging community members to take advantage of special opportunities on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The 4th Annual Fairfield Holiday Shop & Stroll event, co-sponsored by the town and the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Thursday, Dec. 8, First Selectman Mike Tetreau recently announced.

Participating shops will stay open late and will offer an assortment of hors d’oeuvres and seasonal refreshments. Traveling carolers and musicians from local schools will fill the air with holiday cheer, and local restaurants will be offering dinner or drink specials.

“This is a great opportunity to support our local businesses and get your holiday shopping done while enjoying a fun night out with family or friends,” Tetreau said in a press release.

First Selectman Tetreau also called upon residents and non-residents alike to take advantage of special shopping opportunities on Small Business Saturday immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday on Saturday, November 26, 2016.

Small Business Saturday started in 2010 as a way to celebrate and support small businesses. This past year, more than 95 million people participated nationwide.

First Selectman Tetreau remarked, “Small Business Saturday is a terrific opportunity to kick off the holiday season by remembering the small businesses that help make Fairfield special, and we encourage all to Shop Small throughout the year, but especially during this festive time of year.”

American Express, which has sponsored Small Business Saturday since its inception, is providing eligible card members who enroll the opportunity to earn double rewards at qualifying small businesses during the holiday season.

Retailers or organizations that wish to participate in the Holiday Shop & Stroll event should contact Community and Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart at (203) 256-3120 or Chamber of Commerce President Beverly Balaz at (203) 255-1011 by Friday, November 20, 2016.
