FAIRFIELD, CT — Looking to update its offerings to Fairfield residents, the town is looking to launch a new government website by the end of the year, according to officials.

Troy, Michigan-based Revize Software Systems, which has built more than 2,500 government websites, will be paid $61,000, the amount approved by the Board of Selectmen Tuesday.

"As you know, this was on the priority list for me when I first came in," said First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick. "The current site is so outdated, so antiquated, but this new one is going to be great."

The town's current website, at www.fairfieldct.org, was launched nearly a decade ago, according to Jackie Bertolone, Chief of Staff for the First Selectwoman's Office. See an image of the current site below.

"Our website is very clunky, and very old," Bertolone said. "It was launched in 2013, and is not friendly to the public, and not really friendly to the people who use it on the backend, either."

The town received proposals from eight website design firms before selecting Revize, Bertolone said, adding that what helped tip the decision in Revize's favor was the company's 20-year track record in building municipal websites.

Among the improvements slated for the town's new website include an online payment portal; the ability to reserve town facilities; an FOIA request tracker; a real estate finder; improved social media integration; and a host of other features.

Revize will host the site in the cloud, and help maintain it, which Fairfield officials said will cost the town less than the current setup.
