Fairfield Ludlowe Girls' Soccer Wins Thriller Over Fairfield Warde
Sophomore Clare Mengel scores lone goal, Falcons hand Mustangs first loss.

The Fairfield Ludlowe girls’ soccer team kept its playoff hopes alive in dramatic fashion with a 1-0 victory over rival Fairfield Warde last Thursday night at Tetreau/Davis Field.
Sophomore Clare Mengel scored the eventual game-winning goal for Ludlowe, which improved to 4-5-2.
It was the first loss for Fairfield Warde (8-1-1).

“We’ve had an up and down season, so to have this win is unbelievable,” Mengel told Mary Albl of GameTimeCT/New Haven Register.
Fairfield Warde bounced back with a 6-0 victory over Bridgeport Central on Friday. The Mustangs will host Ridgefield on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Fairfield Ludlowe will look to make it two in a row when it takes on Darien Monday at 4:45 p.m. at Taft Field in Fairfield.
