Fairfield Man Arrested In Wrong-Way Crash On I-95 In Westport: CSP
The crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 22-year-old Fairfield man was arrested on a host of charges, including driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, on Sunday after a wrong-way crash on I-95 near exit 17 in Westport, according to Connecticut State Police.
In addition to DUI, Cory Gomes was also charged with the following:
- Reckless endangerment
- Driving the wrong way on the highway
- Reckless driving
No injuries were reported in the crash, which occurred at about 3:15 a.m.

Gomes is accused of traveling northbound in the southbound lane when he crashed.
"Responding Troopers located the accused vehicle, a Honda CR-V, in the center median where it had been involved in a collision within a construction pattern in the area of Exit 17," authorities wrote in a statement.

In speaking with Gomes, state police troopers "observed that Gomes' eyes appeared bloodshot and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle."
He allegedly did not pass Standardized Field Sobriety Tests at the scene.
Gomes was taken into custody on the above charges, and was released after posting a $2,500 cash/surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 16.
