Fairfield Museum’s Holiday Express Train Show Gets Expanded Hours
Officials recently announced the new evening hours for the train show and other holiday programs taking place at the Fairfield Museum.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Museum’s renowned Holiday Express Train Show recently expanded evening hours are giving locals more time to get into the holiday spirit. Officials recently announced the new evening hours and other holiday programs taking place at the Fairfield Museum.
Throughout the month of December, the delightful show will be open on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“The Holiday Express Train Show has become a real Fairfield tradition,” Mike Jehle, the Museum’s executive director, said in a press release. “Now in its 11th year, the show is even more elaborate, with additional tracks and scenery. We’re also delighted to offer expanded evening hours and additional programming, so more people will have the opportunity to enjoy the show.”

The Holiday Express Train Show runs through January 8, 2017. In addition to the evening hours, weekday hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

The Holiday Express Train Show is generously sponsored by Roland & Co. and Hatfield Insurance Company. It is presented with the support of Central Connecticut G-Gaugers, Connecticut G-Scalers Club, Hobbytown USA and Housatonic Model Railroad Club.
The Museum is also excited to offer a variety of programs will throughout the month. Highlights include a “Build-A-Train Workshop” offered daily from December 27-30, a “Choo Choo Storytimes” on Wednesdays in December at 10:30 a.m. and “Storycraft” sessions on Tuesday, Dec. 13 and 20 at 10:30 a.m. Choo Choo Storytimes and Storycraft sessions are free of charge and sponsored by People’s United Bank.
For adults, Fairfield Museum is hosting a festive “Holiday Sip & Shop” on Thursday, December 15 from 6-8 p.m.
“The Sip & Shop event this summer was very popular,” noted Deb Owens, the Museum’s marketing & communications manager. “We decided to bring back a holiday version this year so locals can spend some time socializing with friends while enjoying discounts in our fully-stocked Museum Shop! In addition, we’ll have Elizabeth Menke, who put together the fabulous Entrée Nous dining passport, on site to discuss the restaurants featured in the book.”
The Fairfield Museum is located at 370 Beach Road in Fairfield, CT, and is open seven days a week, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for students and seniors. Members of the Museum and children under 5 are free. Become a Museum Member during the Train Show and receive an additional 6 months for free!
