Fairfield Organizations Get $400K In State Humanities Grants

Recipients included Fairfield Theatre Company, Pequot Library, and Fairfield Museum and History Center.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Eight Fairfield organizations recently received more than $400,000 combined in state grant funds.

The board of directors of CT Humanities awarded 624 nonprofit museums and organizations a total of $16 million in CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grants, according to a recent news release. The grants are part of $30.7 million in support allocated to CT Humanities over the next two years by the General Assembly and approved by Gov. Ned Lamont.

The grants will assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic, connect teachers and students to strong humanities and arts content, and improve information technology and digital infrastructure.

Working in partnership with the Connecticut Office of the Arts, CT Humanities prioritized equitable distribution of the funding. Nonprofits of all sizes in 137 cities and towns and two tribal nations, received awards. Based on budget size and in consideration of other sources of state funding, the minimum award was $5,000 and the maximum award was $500,000.
