FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Police Department Quality of Life Unit conducted an investigation following the fatal drug overdose of a 23-year-old male that had occured in December 2020.

Through a subsequent three-month investigation, Detectives learned that Luis Rivera, age 34, of Naugatuck, allegedly sold the deceased narcotics on the day of his fatal overdose. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant out of Bridgeport Superior Court Arrest Warrant for Rivera.

On March 11, Detectives observed Rivera driving his vehicle and proceeded to conduct a motor vehicle stop at which point Rivera was taken into custody.  Rivera was charged with Sale of a Narcotic Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Rivera was released on a court set $100,000 bond.
