Fairfield Police Department Launches Recruitment Drive To Hire Officers

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Police Department is looking for a few of the Finest to join its ranks.
"We are looking for motivated, community minded individuals who want to make a difference and serve with professionalism, integrity, pride, and teamwork," Officials wrote this week in a statement. Employment information can be found here.
The Fairfield Force has 117 Sworn Police Officers, and "approximately 100 authorized Special Agents, 15 Telecommunicators, 4 Animal Control Officers, 7 Marina Guards, 6 full-time and several part-time civilian personnel."

How many officers the department intends to hire was not disclosed.
Annual salary for an entry-level officer in Fairfield is between $75,241 and $91,941, depending on experience.

How to apply:
Step 1:
Register for the CPCA Written Exam at PoliceApp.com.
- Exams are hosted on various dates and locations across Connecticut.
- You must score 75% or higher before applying.
Step 2:
Obtain your current C.H.I.P card at the 40th percentile or above.
- No current card? Schedule and pass your physical agility test as soon as possible.
Step 3:
Top scorers are invited to Fairfield for the Oral Board Examination.
- Not all candidates with 75% advance; the cutoff score could be higher if necessary.
"All testing requirements must be completed prior to applying," officials said. "The application deadline is October 9th, 2026."
