The 911 system was still functioning despite a technical issue Tuesday night with police and fire department phone lines.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Phone lines were down Tuesday night for the Fairfield police and fire departments, according to an email alert from the town.
The issue was affecting inbound calls to both departments' non-emergency and business lines, but 911 phone systems were still functioning.
Police first disclosed the problem about 6 p.m., but five hours later, it was still ongoing, with residents also experiencing cell service interruptions, the department said in a Facebook post.
