Fairfield Police Union Endorses Kupchick & Farnen In Selectperson Race
Republican incumbent First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick, and running mate Brian Farnen, were endorsed over their Democratic rivals.
FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Police Union, known as C.O.P.S. Local 550, on Tuesday endorsed incumbent First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick, and her running mate Brian Farnen, in the upcoming Selectpersons election.
Tuesday's endorsement marked the union's first political endorsement in more than a decade. The union executive board met with Kupchick, a Republican, and Democratic challenger Bill Gerber before throwing the bargaining group's support behind Kupchick.
"Over the years, we have the privilege of working closely with First Selectwoman Kupchick, who has consistently demonstrated unwavering support for our department, our mission and the safety of the Fairfield Community," said Fairfield Police Union President Ray Quiles, during a news conference in front of police headquarters.

"I just want to say that I'm extremely proud to receive this endorsement from the men and women of the Fairfield Police Department," Kupchick said, adding that she supports all first responders. "I have made it a commitment to invest in both the police and the fire department, I think public safety is one of the most, if not the most important issue that all residents care about. Because regardless of everything that you have, if you are not safe, the other things don't matter."
Added Farnen, "I don't think that we just have one of the best police department's in the state, we have one of the best police departments in the nation, which comes down to the men and women in blue that we have in Fairfield. I'm proud to be part of Brenda's effort for re-election. And if you look over the last four years, at the commitment you provided to first responders and the police department, being an ally, dealing with the corruption scandal, and putting the resources to the police department, so they can do their job, it's huge."
