FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Police Department is warning residents of a phone call scam from a group claiming to be collecting funds to purchase ballistic vests for the department’s K-9 unit.

“It is not known what group/individual is soliciting these donations, however, they are in no way affiliated with the Fairfield Police Department,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “Residents have reported that the caller ID for these calls has read ‘US K9 NY.’ Those wishing to make a contribution to the Fairfield Police K9 Unit should go to www.fpdct.com/k9 for additional information.”
