Fairfield Prep Reclaims State Ice Hockey Crown

The Jesuits came from behind twice to post a 4-2 win over Greenwich in the Division I ice hockey finals.

NEW HAVEN, CT — For the 17th time, and first occasion in four years, Fairfield Prep can rightly call itself the champions of Connecticut high school ice hockey.

The top-seeded Jesuits twice came back from one-goal deficits to surpass No. 2 Greenwich en route to a 4-2 victory in the championship game of the CIAC Division I tournament at the Ingalls Rink at Yale University.

Kevin Oricoli twice tied the game for the Jesuits (21-2-1), with his second goal evening the score at 2-2 early in the third period. Just 72 seconds after knotting the game, Evangelos Uva netted the eventual game-winner, assisted by Colin Bella and Cole Casl.

Carter Kral added an empty net goal in the final minute to secure Prep's first title since 2014.

William Baugher had both goals for Greenwich (21-3).

Goaltender John McGee stopped 24 shots to earn the victory for the Jesuits.
