The semifinalists in all four classes were eligible for the Open championship. However, not all entered the 16-player field for various reasons, meaning some quarterfinal losers were chosen to fill the spots.
Carr was one of those players, as he lost to No. 4 Tyler Ktatcky of Greenwich, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (0), in the quarterfinals of the Class LL tournament last week.

The Fairfield Prep player defeated Stonington's Colin Melford, 6-1, 6-1, in his first-round match in the Open tournament.
Trinity Catholic's Dante Terenzio, who won the Class S championship is the favorite. Carr and Terenzio are the only Fairfield County players to reach the final eight.
