Fairfield Prep's Carr Reaches Final Of State Open Tennis
Will play Trinity Catholic's Terenzio in Tuesday's final at Hamden High School
Fairfield Prep's Ryan Carr won two matches Monday to advance to the finals of the state Open tennis tournament.
Carr defeated Andrew Waddington of Granby Memorial, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8, in the quarterfinals, then bested Brandon Roode of Grisold, 6-2, 6-4, in the semifinals.
Carr will take on Trinity Catholic's Dante Terenzio, the Class S champion, in the final on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Hamden High.

Terenzio, who lost one game in his two matches Monday, also is the reigning Open champion.
The semifinals in all four classes were eligible for the Open championship. However, not all entered the 16-player field for various reasons, meaning some quarterfinal losers were chosen to fill the spots.

Carr was one of those players, as he lost in the round of eight in the Class LL tournament.
