Fairfield Preschool Teacher Loses Breast Cancer Battle
For roughly two decades, Deanna Marie Herlihy ran Curiousity Corner preschool.
FAIRFIELD, CT — A long-time preschool teacher in Fairfield died earlier this month after her second battle with cancer. Deanna Marie Herlihy was 61 when she passed away June 4, according to her obituary in the Connecticut Post.
For roughly two decades, Herlihy ran Curiousity Corner preschool, which she closed last year after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, according to a 2019 GoFundMe page created to raise money for Herlihy and her family. Prior to the 2018 diagnosis, she had been cancer free for nearly 20 years.
“Ms. Dee is the first teacher many of our little ones ever had,” the page said. “For the past 19 years at Curiosity Corner she taught them letters, shapes, colors, kindness, a love of nature on their walks to the park and helped them create keepsake art projects.”
