Fairfield Rallies Around Warde's Giacomo Brancato Following Cancer Diagnosis

"Undefeatable" T-Shirts will be sold at Tuesday night's basketball game in support of the star athlete.

The Fairfield community is coming together in support of Fairfield Warde junior Giacomo Brancato, a star athlete who was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Brancato plays for both the Warde boys’ basketball and baseball teams.

T-Shirts bearing Brancato’s name and uniform numbers along with the slogan “Undefeatable” will be sold at Tuesday night’s basketball game between town rivals Warde and Ludlowe.

The shirts were designed by family friend Jennifer Parsons, whose son Marcel is a teammate of Brancato’s, with the help of a Fairfield graphic artist, according to GameTimeCT.

“When I think of Giacomo and when anyone things of him as an athlete in Fairfield, he’s just undefeatable,” Parsons told Mary Albl of GameTimeCT. “He is always the top scorer and he’s so humble. He’s always the one to watch. And I started saying to Giacomo, you’re undefeatable on the court and off the court, on the field and off the field.”

The shirts are being sold for $15 to help the Brancato family pay for medical bills. Parsons is also accepting donations.

The Authentic Athlete in Fairfield will also be selling the shirts with all proceeds going toward the family, according to GameTimeCT.

The rivalry games will be played at Ludlowe with the girls’ varsity basketball game beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game following at 7:45 p.m. Parsons told Albl that both the girls and boys will be wearing the shirt as warmups and Ludlowe expressed an interest to wear them as well in support.
