Fairfield Real Estate Company Aims to Acquire GE Headquarters

The town’s second-largest taxpayer is aiming to acquire the property of Fairfield’s outgoing largest taxpayer.

Fairfield-based real estate company Kleban Properties is in the process of entering into a non-disclosure agreement with General Electric to begin negotiations on the potential purchase of the corporate headquarters property on Easton Turnpike, according to FOX 61.

The Fairfield Citizen reports that Kleban Properties would acquire the property with the intent of transforming the 68-acre campus into a technology center with an educational component.

Kleban Properties Chairman Al Kleban told FOX 61 that a partnership with a college — possibly Fairfield University — is key.

Kleban Properties, owners of the Brick Walk complex on the Post Road downtown and the building that houses the Fairfield University Bookstore and Victoria’s Secret and several other properties in town, had a total assessed value of $76,286,593 in 2014 for its commercial properties in town, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
