Fairfield To Receive Secretary Of State's Democracy Cup Award

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield will receive the Secretary of State's Democracy Cup award, which recognizes high voter turnout percentage for an election cycle, during a ceremony Thursday, according to officials.
Fairfield is being honored under the City category of communities of more than 65,000 residents. Information about the election cycle in question and the turnout percentage was not immediately available.
However, for the Feb. 3 Special Election for First Selectperson, the turnout percentage was 41.6 percent of registered voters, according to FairfieldVotes.org.

Thursday's ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Fairfield Regional Fire School, 205 Richard White Way. The public is welcomed to attend.
