Tran is the popular show's first Asian-American Bachelorette, according to The New York Times, and she was a contestant on the recent edition of "The Bachelor." That show recently ended its season with Bachelor Joey Graziadei choosing Kelsey Anderson as his mate.
The 26-year-old Tran is a Miami, Florida resident, who is studying to be a physician assistant. She enjoys reading, traveling and paddleboarding in her spare time, according to her bio on the show's website.
The site does not include bios of the 28 contestants for Tran's heart, but Simon's father, Greg Simon, told CT Insider that being on the show is an "interesting adventure" for Jeremy.
Tran's selection as the newest Bachelorette was a bit of a surprise to fans of the show, reported Us magazine, as many thought that Maria Georgas or Daisy Kent from Graziadei's edition would be the choice.
The 21st season of The Bachelorette is scheduled to debut in July on ABC.
