Fairfield Resident Finds Stranger On Basement Steps: Police
Two Fairfield homes were burglarized Saturday, and in both cases the suspect dripped blood inside the residence, according to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A Fairfield resident discovered a stranger standing in their basement stairway over the weekend, according to police.
That incident was one of two burglaries reported Saturday on Jackman Avenue, Fairfield police said in a Facebook post. The first burglary to be reported to police occurred between 12:25 and 1:22 p.m. in the 300 block of Jackman Avenue, when a resident found a basement window pushed in and the back door open, according to the post. Items had also been moved inside the home and dresser drawers had been rummaged through, police said, adding that drops of blood were found throughout the residence.
Around 2 p.m. a second burglary was reported in the 100 block of Jackman Avenue, where a resident said they heard a noise in the basement, opened the basement door and saw a strange man standing on the stairs, according to police. The resident closed and locked the door and contacted family, but due to a miscommunication the police were not called until later, the post said. The basement window was forced open and the glass shattered, according to police, who noted that once again blood was discovered in the home.
