Fairfield Teens Mentor Younger Students

Talented teens pair up with younger students to provide academic support, improve sports, music, S.T.E.M. skills and model self-confidence.

There’s a new mentoring service available to Fairfield families that combines the best qualities of mentorship and one-on-one academic tutoring.

Role Model Mentors matches high-achieving high school students from Warde and Ludlowe High Schools with younger children in the community. The mentors are matched with younger mentees – usually ages 8-14 — to help with academics and study skills, one-one-one sports practice and enrichment in learning areas like music, science, coding and the arts

“The idea is to develop authentic relationships between young kids and the older students they naturally look up to,” says Tim Boylan, of Ridgefield, who founded Role Model Mentors last year. “The academic tutoring and skills development are great, because high school students can offer great support to a younger student in subjects where extra review or enrichment is desired. But our clients also find that the benefit of matching their child with a mentor is about demonstrating what good character and good habits look like.”
