Fairfield Trader Joe's Closed After Worker Gets Coronavirus
The Fairfield Trader Joe's store will reopen when it is cleaned and sanitized after a worker contracted the coronavirus, officials said.
FAIRFIELD, CT — Trader Joe’s has temporarily closed its Fairfield store for cleaning after a worker was diagnosed with the new coronavirus.
The employee with the virus was last at the store March 31, according to a statement from Trader Joe’s posted on its website.
"We have temporarily closed some stores for precautionary cleaning and sanitization related to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns," the statement said.

The Fairfield store is one of seven locations nationwide to close in connection with the virus, according to the statement, which noted crew members will be paid for their scheduled shifts during the closures.
Trader Joe’s is located at 2258 Black Rock Tpk. in Fairfield. The grocery chain also has stores in Westport, Darien and Orange.

The coronavirus has spread rapidly through Connecticut in recent weeks, with 3,557 confirmed cases and 85 deaths as of Wednesday, according to state data. As of Wednesday, Fairfield had 48 confirmed cases and two virus-related deaths.
Trader Joe’s did not immediately respond to requests for additional information. A Fairfield Health Department representative was not immediately available to comment.
