Fairfield University Mourns Death Of Public Safety Officer

'Ed was a kind, loyal and dedicated friend and colleague to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.'

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield University community is mourning the death of one of its public safety officers.

Officer Edward Baclawski died Saturday afternoon at Griffin Hospital in Derby from complications of an aggressive cancer, according to a message posted on Facebook from Director of Public Safety Todd A. Pelazza.

"Ed was a kind, loyal and dedicated friend and colleague to all who knew him. He will be sorely missed," Pelazza said in the message. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Ed and his family during this difficult time."

The Fairfield Police Department offered condolences to the university.

"The Fairfield Police Department extends its deepest sympathies to the men and women of the Fairfield University Department of Public Safety and the entire Fairfield University community as they mourn the loss of Officer Ed Baclawski," a Facebook post from the department said.
