Fairfield Warde Girls Place Fifth in Class L Track Meet

Meg Ryan dominates with wins in the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters

Led by a dominating performance by Notre Dame-bound Meg Ryan, the Fairfield Warde girls finished fifth in the CIAC Class LL girls track and field meet at New Britain's Willowbrook Park with 41 points.

Ryan set personal bests in winning the 1,600 meters (4:51.76) and the 3,200 meters (10:49. 15) . It marked the second straight year in which she won two events in this competition.

Ryan finished nearly 13 seconds ahead of her closest competitor in the 1,600 meters and 10 seconds ahead of Bunnell's Laura Sara in the 3,200 meters.

Warde's Carly Birkhold (11:06. 82) , also a senior, finished third in the 3,200 meters.

 Ryan did not compete in the 800 meters, an event she won last week at the FCIAC meet.
