The Fairfield Warde girls’ soccer team is heading to the Class LL state championship game after a thrilling 1-0 victory over Ridgefield in the final seconds of Tuesday night’s semifinals.
Sixth-seeded Warde (17-3-3) will play the winner of Wednesday night’s semifinal contest between top-seeded Glastonbury (17-1-0) and No. 4 Simsbury (14-1-3) in the Class LL final Saturday at a site and time to be determined.
Amanda Orvis, who was recently substituted into the game, scored the game-winning goal with only 21 seconds to go in regulation to send the Mustangs to their first title game since winning it all in 2007, according to GameTimeCT.com.
