Fairfield Warde Juniors To Hold Food Drive Saturday

All proceeds will go to Operation Hope.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Scholars and Athletes Serving Others of Fairfield will hold a community food drive Saturday. The drive will take place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two locations: 1207 Valley Road and 261 Hemlock Hills Road South.

The event is sponsored by SASO members, Fairfield Warde High School juniors, Cooper Dionne and Chance de la Garrigue. All proceeds will go to Operation Hope. SASO aims to mobilize and inspire boys and their mothers to provide service and leadership that positively impacts local communities.

Items that will be collected Saturday include:

  • Toiletries (toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, soap, disposable razors, shaving cream)
  • Canned vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, any type of beans)
  • Canned tomatoes (diced, crushed, whole)
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, salsa, salad dressing, gravy)
  • Sides (boxed rice, dried potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing)
  • Canned fruit, fruit cups, apple sauce
  • Shelf-stable milk (boxed)
  • Peanut butter, jelly or jam, crackers
  • Canned chili and stew
  • Cleaning products (dish soap, sponges, laundry detergent, paper towels, Lysol spray)
  • Gift cards (Stop & Shop, CVS, Walgreens, ShopRite, Trader Joe’s)
  • Brown paper bags (Stop & Shop, ShopRite, Trader Joe’s)
