Fairfield Warde's Dream Season Ends in Class LL Final

Top-seeded Glastonbury edges Mustangs in double overtime.

The Fairfield Warde girls’ soccer team’s dream season came to an end with a heartbreaking 2-1 double overtime loss to Glastonbury in the Class LL championship game Saturday night at Ken Strong Stadium in West Haven.

Glastonbury’s Maddy Lamagna scored early in the first overtime period to help send the top-seeded Tomahawks (22-1) to the championship — and their first state title since 2001.

Fairfield Warde finished with a 17-4-3 record and enjoyed a memorable season in which it earned its first FCIAC title (which is shared with Staples) and reached its second state final in program history.
