Fairfield Wins Junior Babe Ruth District Two Title

Team advances to face Trumbull in state tournament on Friday

The 13-year-old Fairfield Junior Babe Ruth team defeated Norwalk, 6-3, Saturday morning to win its first District Two title since 2003.

Fairfield, which split two earlier meetings with Norwalk in the tournament, moves on to face host Trumbull in the state tournament on Friday.

Fairfield grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Billy Moeder's RBI double scored Hunter Hewitt. The winners added two runs in the second as Tommy Luckner and Kyle Cavadi had key hits.

Norwalk plated two runs in the fourth to pull within 4-3, but Fairfield tacked on two insurance runs in the fifth.

Hunter Hewitt tossed three scoreless innings in relief of starter Brian O'Donnell to preserve the victory.
